The English midfielder has decided to extend his stay at Villa for five more years.
Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish has signed a new deal, ensuring his stay for another five years at Villa Park. Grealish has been heavily linked with an exit while Manchester United looked keen on his services. However, United’s interest has slowed down following the signing of Donny van de Beek.
The 24-year-old has put an end to the speculations over his future by signing a new deal with the Villans.
Upon signing the new deal, Grealish said,
“I am delighted to make this commitment to Villa. It is my club, my home and I am very happy here.
“The owners have made it very clear to me how ambitious they are and how they want to build Aston Villa. There are exciting times ahead and I am very glad to be part of it.”
Grealish was the only saving grace from Villa’s lacklustre last season. He netted 10 goals and set up eight more in all competitions, eventually bailing his side out of the relegation zone. His rich vein of form also helped him earn his debut for the national team last week in the friendlies against Denmark. Grealish only starred as a substitute, but his impact was straightaway seen on the field. Garry Southgate would be delighted with the performance of the Villans’ skipper.

“We are determined to build a top team around him and are delighted that he is extending his contract and committing himself to the club he loves.”
Grealish was among the best creative players in the English top-flight last season, eventually falling on the radar of big clubs like Manchester United. His call-up to the national team was a deserved one for all he had done with the Lions last season. As the England senior team are replete with quality midfielders, it is up to Grealish who should stay relevant to secure his place for next year’s European Championship.
Villa will face Burton in the EFL Cup on Tuesday before they commence their Premier League campaign this weekend against Sheffield United.
Aston Villa have been productive in the transfer window so far with the signings of Ollie Watkins and Emiliano Martinez, with the former becoming the club’s record transfer.
