Ivan Perišić Moving to Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich interest in Leroy Sane came to an end early in August following a worrying injury of the Man City young prodigy. After falling out of favour, Sane has been replaced by Ivan Perisić as the new player who joined German champions, who joined Bayern Munich on a loan deal.

Leroy Sane, who is considered to be one of the best and most promising young talents in the world has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich for a prolonged time. However, the move fell into the water following a devastating knee injury of the 23-year old, which he has suffered on Sunday, August 4 in the Community Shield fixture against Liverpool. On that day City ended up victorious but paid a huge price as they will not be able to count on Sane, who has been ruled out for as long as seven months, during which he will need to undergo a surgery and recovery process.

After the terrible news, which distanced Bayern Munich from Sane, the German champions did not need long to find themselves a new transfer target. As it was revealed last week that target was no other than Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan, who is said to join Munich on a season-long loan move, with an option to make the deal permanent next year.

His transfer to Munich is, however, not only a rumour at this point but rather a sure thing. As reported by Bild, Perisic has already undergone medicals with the German Champions. He was spotted leaving the hospital in Bayern, stating “Yeah, I just had the medical check-up”, which only further confirmed the move might be made official in the upcoming days. Furthermore, the new San Siro boss, Antonio Conte made it clear earlier in July he does not consider Ivan Perisic as a player who fits into his team, as he does not believe he is capable of filling the role he needs him in. That ultimately gave the Croatian international a green light to leave the club he has been with for the past three years.

During his three-years-long career with the Nerazzurri, the Croatian national scored 40 goals and added 37 assists, which was more than enough to caught the attention of Bayern Munich, who unlike Inter have a perfect spot for Perisic in their ranks. It’s no secret Niko Kovac has been in the market for a wide forward, since the departure of Robben and Ribery, and while it will be hard to replace any of the two legends, the Croatian manager seemingly found a perfect replacement in a 17-year younger compatriot.

It’s also worth noting Perisic has already played in Bundesliga as a part of Borussia Dortmund (2011-2013) and Wolfsburg (2013-2015) squad. With Borussia, Ivan Perisic won a German Cup and a league title in 2011/12 as well as Super cup a year later. He then added another German Cup and Super cup title with Wolfsburg before he left for Inter. In total, Perisic  scored 27 goals and added 16 assists during his four-year-long Bundesliga campaign, which sets himself nicely to bring himself closer to the record of the most goals scored in Bundesliga by a Croatian player, which is still in hands Croatian football legend and now retired 39-year-old Ivica Olic, who has scored 72 times in German top flight between 2007 and 2017.
