Arguably the most exciting young talent to emerge from France after Kylian Mbappe, Eduardo Camavinga, 18, made his first-team debut for Rennes when he was only 16 years old. The midfielder also made his senior debut for France earlier this season and became the youngest player to represent the Les Blues since 1932.

Camavinga, who is one of Europe’s hottest properties, is also on the radar of Real Madrid and Chelsea. His current contract runs out at the end of the 2021/22 season and while there is no release clause in it, Rennes are likely to demand more than £50million for the midfielder’s services.

Paul Pogba could leave Manchester United at the end of the season

Paul Pogba’s future at Manchester United has been uncertain ever since he returned after winning the World Cup with France in 2018. He has repeatedly been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with his agent Mino Raiola creating controversy in December 2020 by declaring that it was “over” for the Frenchman at United.

The midfielder has been sidelined for a month with a thigh problem, but prior to that blow, Pogba had arguably been in the best form of his Manchester United career. Since Pogba hobbled off the pitch in the dramatic 3-3 draw with Everton, United have missed his creative spark in midfield, and as a result, has faded Ole Gunnar Solskjaer-managed side’s title charge.

When fully fit and on his day, Pogba is the best player in his position and possesses the qualities any player could just dream of. However, his current deal expires in the summer of 2022 and should he not renew his contract, the Red Devils would be running the high risk of losing their French midfield ace on a free transfer.

Should Man United make a summer swoop for Eduardo Camavinga?

Should Pogba decide to leave Old Trafford at the end of the 2020/21 season, the Red Devils have identified Camavinga as a potential replacement.

Rennes midfielder Camavinga is among Europe’s most highly-coveted players and is a future superstar at the age of 18. The teenage prodigy has earned massive plaudits since breaking into the Rennes first team in the 2018/19 campaign. The Frenchman has been shattering records left, right and centre, both domestically and for his national side. He scored a stunning overhead free-kick on his first start for France in the 7-1 win over Ukraine in October 2020.

Camavinga has already drawn comparisons with Pogba, inevitably catching the eye of some of Europe’s top clubs. A combative midfielder, he is known for his range of passing and tackling ability. At 18, the three-cap France international has plenty of room to develop as it is scary to even think how high his ceiling actually is.

Even if Pogba stays at United beyond this season, the Mancunian giants must do everything to their powers to bring in Camavinga as he could turn out to be a phenomenal long-term asset. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has shown at United that he is more than willing to place his trust in young guns. So, there is every reason to see Camavinga thrive at Old Trafford and become a big part of Solskjaer’s rebuild of the club.
