Arsenal are looking to improve their full-back options in the summer and they have identified Galatasaray’s Sacha Boey as a potential target.
Sacha Boey, 22, has done well at Galatasaray since arriving from French club Rennes in 2021. The full-back’s performances have not gone unnoticed, with half of Europe monitoring his situation. Arsenal are also reportedly in the mix for the former France under-20 international, who has decided to leave Galatasaray this summer and dreams of playing in the Premier League.
Mikel Arteta wants more quality and depth in the right-back area. Ben White has played the majority of the campaign at right-back, delivering consistent displays to help the Gunners challenge Man City for the Premier League title. Arteta hasn’t been able to afford White a breather at all of late and Takehiro Tomiyasu’s injury struggles meant he could not move the England international into his natural position at centre-back in William Saliba’s absence.
Cedric Soares fell down the pecking order this season and left the club to join Fulham on loan in January. The Portuguese full-back is due to return to the Emirates Stadium with a year left on his deal and he is likely to be offloaded in the summer.
Sacha Boey on Arsenal’s radar
Arsenal are seriously interested in signing Galatasaray right-back Sacha Boey, with could face competition from clubs such as Udinese, Lyon and Sporting CP. Boey has enjoyed a productive season in the Turkish Super Lig, registering a goal and three assists in 28 appearances.
Galatasaray are braced for offers in the summer as they have already been contacted by clubs for the 22-year-old. The Turkish club will review the offers for Boey and make a final decision at the end of the season.
Arsenal will play in the Champions League next season and that means they must strengthen their squad. The central midfield will be their priority as the Gunners need a top-quality player to compete with the likes of Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka and Martin Odegaard.
Although it isn’t much of a priority, it won’t be a surprise to see Arteta sign a young right-back to provide competition for White and Tomiyasu next season. And Boey fits the bill perfectly at the Emirates, and the opportunity to play for the north London giants will be too difficult to turn down for the Frenchman.
