West Ham United favourites to land Galatasaray winger Wilfried Zaha

West Ham United are plotting a move to bring back Galatasaray star Wilfried Zaha to the Premier League.

Wilfried Zaha crystal palace

The Ivory Coast international, 31, left Crystal Palace on a free transfer to join Turkish outfit Galatasaray last summer. He has enjoyed a productive debut campaign at Galatasaray, bagging nine goals and three assists in 25 league games. In addition, the winger has also shone in the Champions League, scoring in the shock 3-2 win over former employers Manchester United at Old Trafford in October.

However, Wilfried Zaha is believed to be interested in returning to the Premier League where he spent 12 seasons. West Ham have been interested in the 31-year-old in the last couple of transfer windows and are reportedly planning to move for him in the summer.

Wilfried Zaha open to return to Premier League

West Ham are looking to improve their offensive unit and have identified potential targets. They have made it to the last eight of the Europa League and remain in the hunt for a European berth next term, but failure to secure qualification via either route could limit their spending power. The Hammers cannot afford to breach the FFP rules and regulations by spending excessively in the summer, therefore, must plan well.

Jarrod Bowen is enjoying a tremendous season at West Ham. The England international has scored 14 goals and registered three assists in 28 league games and remains hungry to breach the 20-goal mark. His form has gone unnoticed, with Premier League bigwigs circling for the forward’s signature. West Ham may be forced to sell Bowen if he decides to move to one of the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Wilfried Zaha, in that regard, could be a quality short-term replacement for Bowen due to his ability to play out wide or through the middle. The Ivory Coast international has bags of Premier League experience, and his addition would richly benefit David Moyes’ squad. The 31-year-old can provide West Ham’s attack with pace, spark, flexibility, creativity and depth if signed.

It is believed that Zaha’s desire to return to England and West Ham’s long-standing in him are considered among the biggest factors in getting an agreement done, which may become official in a short period. For now, the forward’s future at Galatasaray remains uncertain and we await an official confirmation from all the parties involved.
