Arsenal and Manchester United scouting Borussia Monchengladbach left-back Luca Netz, Chelsea also keen

Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are all keeping close tabs on Borussia Monchengladbach left-back Luca Netz.

Luca Netz

Rated as one of the best young left-backs in the Bundesliga, Luca Netz, 20, arrived at Borussia Monchengladbach from Hertha Berlin in 2021. He is now rated as one of the best young left-backs in the Bundesliga, impressing with his contributions at both ends of the pitch.

The Germany Under-21 international is enjoying a fine season with Borussia Monchengladbach. He has bagged three assists in 22 league appearances thus far amid an underwhelming collective campaign for Monchengladbach. It isn’t surprising that the left-back’s performances have caught the attention of several top clubs across Europe.

Along with Arsenal, Man United and Chelsea, Newcastle United are reportedly also interested in securing Netz’s signature in the summer transfer window, while West Ham United scouted him earlier in the season. German champions Bayern Munich are looking at him as a potential replacement for Alphonso Davies, who is wanted by Real Madrid.

Luca Netz scouted by top Premier League clubs

All the Premier League clubs are contemplating the idea of bolstering their defence by adding a new left-back, and Luca Netz features high in their list.

Oleksandr Zinchenko has endured an injury-hit campaign at Arsenal, forcing Mikel Arteta to use centre-back Jakub Kiwior in that position. In addition, summer signing Jurrien Timber has been out since the first day of the campaign with an ACL injury, so Arteta needs more depth in the left-back area and could target Netz.

As for Man United, Erik ten Hag has Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia as left-backs in his ranks. Shaw has been injury-prone for some years, while Malacia continues to be on the sidelines following a knee injury suffered during the pre-season. As a result, Ten Hag wants a young left-back to replace Shaw in the long run, and Netz could be an ideal target.

Meanwhile, despite having two decent left-backs in their ranks, Chelsea and Newcastle are still interested in reinforcing that position. Both clubs have targeted young, hungry and dynamic talents with high potential in the last couple of years, and Netz’s huge potential is what captures their attention.

Netz has been scouted well by all these clubs this season as they plot to push for his signature in the summer. It will be interesting to see whether Gladbach would be open to selling their hot prospect.
