Chelsea and Wolves agree €63m fee for Pedro Neto

Chelsea have agreed a deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign Pedro Neto. They will reportedly pay a fee of €60million+€3m in potential bonuses to sign the Portugal international, who has already agreed personal terms.

Pedro-Neto-Wolves

Pedro Neto, 24, will undergo medical soon before finalising a move to Chelsea. The Blues have finally struck an agreement with Wolves after having two bids rejected earlier this summer. The West Londoners’ player-plus-cash deal—with Trevoh Chalobah and David Datro Fofana—mentioned in proposals—was rebuffed before a straight cash offer was rebuffed on Thursday.

The Portuguese winger will leave Wolves after five seasons, where he scored 14 goals in 135 appearances after arriving from SC Braga in 2019. He could only manage 20 Premier League outings this past season due to injury problems, bagging two goals and nine assists.

The Pensioners have had a longstanding interest in Neto and decided to act on one of their summer transfer targets after missing out on Michael Olise to Bayern Munich in June. He now looks set to become Chelsea’s ninth signing of the summer transfer window under new head coach Enzo Maresca, who is also eyeing a new striker.

Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion also closing in on move to Chelsea

Chelsea are also on the cusp of signing Samu Omorodion after agreeing a deal worth £34.5m with Atletico Madrid. The 20-year-old, who helped Spain win the gold medal in Olympic men’s football after beating France 5-3 in the final in Paris on Friday, is expected to complete his medical in the coming days.

That would end Enzo Maresca’s search for a new striker, although there are suggestions that the Blues would also target another forward in the closing stages of the transfer window. Chelsea were extremely goal-shy and heavily dependent on Cole Palmer last season. The likes of Raheem Sterling, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Noni Madueke flattered to deceive while Christopher Nkunku endured an injury-hit debut season at Stamford Bridge.

Nicolas Jackson is still not the finished product, and summer signings Marc Guiu and Omari Kellyman cannot be expected to hit the ground running in the Premier League due to their inexperience. So, the west London club may look to go for an experienced striker after completing a deal for Omorodion, who gave a glimpse of his potential on loan at Alaves from Atletico Madrid, scoring eight goals in 34 La Liga games.
