The French superstar midfielder N’Golo Kante has reportedly been targeted by Juventus who approached Chelsea hoping to strike a deal, however, it’s the recent reports that suggest Real Madrid joined the conversation as they look to further strengthen their team this winter.
N’Golo Kante started off his football career at JS Suresnes youth club, where he remained up until 2010 when he got acquired by Boulogne B from where he climbed the ranks and joined US Boulogne squad. Unfortunately, he got to play only three fixtures for his new squad, who decided to let him go to join Caen in 2012. There N’Golo Kante played a total of 81 fixtures, scored six goals and added nine assists. By proving his worth, he got acquired by Leicester in the summer of 2015 for €9 million, which was the turning point of his career. During his time in the EPL N’Golo Kante accumulated 40 appearances for Leicester, scored once and added four assists, which was by no means a huge achievement on its own, yet he did play a crucial role in Leicester title-winning run in 2016. In the summer of 2016, he got acquired by Chelsea on a €35.8 million deal, where he remained since. In 148 appearances for the Blues N’Golo Kante scored 10 goals and added seven and it would be safe to say he proved his worth at the Blues and his market value (€100 million) clearly reflects that.
As it stands now, N’Golo Kante is widely recognised as one of the best midfielders in the world, which is why it should not come off as a surprise Juventus approached Chelsea, hoping they can land him in the next transfer window. That being said, the recent reports from Spanish outlets suggest Los Blancos are also keen on the signing of the N’Golo Kante, in hopes to improve their team, which has not been faring too well so far into the 2019/20 season.
Zinedine Zidane’s side are currently sitting at the top of LaLiga, however, their performances have been anything but convincing, especially on the European Stage. The rumours of Zidane looking for a new midfielder surfaced after Real Madrid’s disappointing 3:0 defeat against PSG when a huge shadow was cast on Casemiro, who disappointed with his performances and could see his position as the starting midfielder taken away from him. And while Zidane would be very keen on bringing N’Golo Kante to his squad, it’s said Juventus are the favourites in that race. And the main reason for that being Sarri, who has already coached Kante and reportedly wants to bring him and Palmieri from Chelsea to Juventus.
As reports suggest, N’Golo Kante would cost approximately £70 million (€80 million), which does not seem like an outrageous price for a player of his quality, yet there are some concerns about whether Chelsea will be prepared to let him go. Kante has been the driving force in Chelsea’s midfield and we can be sure Lampard will want to keep ahold of him. Nonetheless, with two very attractive offers on the table, it’s only fair to expect Kante to look for an option which could earn him European success, and from the looks of it, both Juventus and Real Madrid seem to be in a much better spot compared to Chelsea to triumph on the big stage.
