Ismaila Sarr, 25, has been at Watford since 2019 when he arrived from French club Stade Rennes and has netted 33 times in 122 appearances, including nine coming in the Championship this season. The Senegal international is set to enter the final year of his deal at the end of the season and has no intention of extending his contract at Vicarage Road.

This has placed the 25-year-old on Liverpool’s list of big targets for the next campaign. Sarr, who came close to joining Aston Villa last summer before the deal collapsed, has been linked with Liverpool in the past. Jurgen Klopp is reportedly a big admirer of the speedy winger and has reignited his interest in him ahead of the summer transfer window.

Liverpool open to listen to offers for Diogo Jota?

Liverpool have not enjoyed a great season and it is no secret that they want to rebuild their squad in the summer.

The Reds splashed a fortune to acquire the services of Darwin Nunez from Benfica before the start of the 2022/23 campaign before injuries to key attackers forced them to splash the cash again and sign Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven during the January transfer window. But Roberto Firmino will leave Anfield after eight years on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season, and Jurgen Klopp also wants to offload another attacking player before adding to his squad.

Surprisingly, Diogo Jota could be sold by the club, with the Merseyside outfit aware they have too many left-sided forwards in their squad. Despite Jota signing a new five-year contract with the club as recently as August, there is a chance of him being sold. He is among a list of players the club is willing to listen to offers in the summer, with the Reds valuing the Portuguese forward at around £62 million.

The Reds set to reignite interest in Ismaila Sarr

Watford are 10th in the Championship table but just four points off the playoff places, with Ismaila Sarr enjoying a good season. He has been productive in the final third for Watford, registering nine goals and six assists in 30 appearances. If newly-appointed Chris Wilder, who replaced Slaven Bilic as the new manager, guides the Hornets to promotion, the club will have a better chance of keeping hold of the winger.

Nonetheless, Liverpool are believed to have reignited their interest in Sarr as Klopp may want to provide cover for Mohamed Salah. At this moment in time, the Senegal international is not interested in signing a new deal which could force Watford to cash in on him rather than lose on a free transfer in the summer of 2024.

All in all, a lot is going to depend on the Hornets’ status at the end of this campaign.
