Mykhaylo Mudryk could leave Chelsea to revive his career

Mykhaylo Mudryk’s future at Chelsea has been plunged into further doubt due to a lack of playing time and it could see him leave the club.

Mykhaylo Mudryk

The Ukraine international, 23, has been with the Blues since joining from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 but has not reached the levels that was expected of him. Widely rated as the one of the most disappointing signings in the recent Premier League history, the wide-man has lost his confidence and place in the Chelsea XI under new boss Enzo Maresca.

Mykhaylo Mudryk has netted only seven goals in 63 appearances for the Pensioners—numbers that don’t reflect his true talent and potential. Following the summer acquisitions of Joao Felix, Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto, the 23-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are reportedly ready to let him leave in January when the transfer window re-opens.

Jadon Sancho signing has limited Mykhaylo Mudryk’s game time this season

Chelsea stunned the footballing world when they decided to sign Jadon Sancho on loan from Manchester United on the transfer deadline day. The deal includes an obligation for the Blues to sign the 24-year-old on a permanent deal for between £20-25m next summer.

This week English football legend Alan Shearer has weighed in on what Jadon Sancho needs to succeed at Chelsea.

Sancho is trying to reignite his career at Stamford Bridge following his dismal spell at Man United in which he publicly fell out with manager Erik ten Hag last year. The England international has enjoyed a strong start to his Chelsea career, bagging two assists in as many Premier League outings thus far. His arrival at the club has pushed Mudryk out of the starting XI, with the Ukrainian clocking just 61 minutes of Premier League action to date this term.

As a result, the pressure is now on Mudryk to perform when he gets on the pitch if he is to break into Maresca’s first XI and develop his Chelsea career. He is expected to get opportunities to shine in the Conference League and EFL Cup and that is when the ex-Shakhtar Donetsk star must grab it with both hands.
