Thiago Fernandez, 20, has drawn comparisons with Argentina international Angel di Maria because of the stylistic similarities between the two players. The young winger has enjoyed a decent campaign, chipping in with five goals and eight assists in 30 games across all competitions for Velez Sarsfield.

The Argentina youth international’s performances in Velez Sarsfield colours have reportedly caught the attention of the aforementioned Premier League giants, while several high-profile European clubs also remain keen on his signature.

Liverpool, Man United and Spurs vying for Thiago Fernandez’s signature

Liverpool’s interest in Thiago Fernandez is a bit confusing, considering they have Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo as left-wingers already at the disposal of Arne Slot. However, amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of Diaz and Mohamed Salah, the Reds could justify targeting the Buenos Aires native next year.

As for Man United, they could be scouring the market for an upgrade on Antony, who has proven to be a big-money flop. The 20-time English champions remain open to offloading the diminutive Brazilian next year, and if they manage in doing so, they could replace him with Fernandez. While he is primarily a left-winger, the Argentine can also essay other roles in the final third.

Spurs signed Wilson Odobert from Burnley this past summer transfer window, but with skipper Son Heung-min on the other side of 30, Richarlison injury prone and loanee Timo Werner struggling to break into the first XI, the Lilywhites could do with a young talent like Fernandez. If he signs for Tottenham, he could learn a lot from the experienced Son before succeeding him.

Several clubs across Europe are keeping tabs on the South American’s development at Velez Sarsfield and interest from the aforementioned Premier League outfits remain in the formative stages at the moment. It remains to be seen whether any of these clubs table a concrete offer for Fernandez when the transfer window reopens in January.
