Liverpool eye Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush as potential Mohamed Salah replacement

Liverpool have identified Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah.

Mohamed Salah’s contract will expire at the end of the season if the Reds cannot agree to extend his deal. The Merseyside club are keen to keep him at the club but the Egypt international admitted in September it could be his final season at Anfield.

Salah has been in fantastic form this campaign, netting eight goals and supplying seven assists in 14 games across all competitions. This makes the 32-year-old Liverpool’s top scorer and assist-maker so far this term. Given his excellent goal contributions—219 goals in his 362 appearances—since arriving at the club from AS Roma in 2017, it would be an uphill task to replace the African superstar.

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a swoop for Omar Marmoush, who interestingly happens to be Salah’s Egypt teammate.

Omar Marmoush has been brilliant for Frankfurt

Marmoush has established himself as one of the best strikers in the Bundesliga since arriving at Frankfurt on a free transfer from Wolfsburg last summer. He had a memorable 2023/24 campaign where the centre-forward bagged 17 goals and six assists in 41 appearances. The Cairo-born star is currently enjoying a fabulous time in Germany as he has already 11 goals and seven assists in 13 outings.

Frankfurt will loathe to lose a player Marmoush but they will be powerless to stop him from departing if Liverpool table an offer. He will want to compete at the highest level and rub shoulders with the best players across the continent. After spending so many years in Germany, a move to the Premier League will be an exciting opportunity for Egypt’s rising star to showcase his talent and potential.

Liverpool have a promising project under Arne Slot and they could provide Marmoush with the platform to become one of the best goalscorers in the world as well as push for major honours. At 25, the Frankfurt ace is entering the peak of his powers and should be keen to follow Salah’s footsteps at Anfield and become an icon.

With Frankfurt expected to demand in the rage of €50-60 million, the Reds must be all over his signature in 2025.
