Premier League trio Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are keen on signing Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush in the summer transfer window.
Omar Marmoush, 25, arrived at Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer in the summer from Wolfsburg and has quickly become a fan favourite. He is Eintracht Frankfurt’s top scorer with 15 goals across all competitions, with 10 coming in the Bundesliga thus far. The Egyptian has also shown the creative side of his game with six assists in 33 games, and his overall productivity in Eintracht Frankfurt colours have unsurprisingly caught the attention of many clubs.
Frankfurt are aware of the interest the Egypt international is garnering ahead of the summer transfer window. The Bundesliga outfit have reportedly set a price tag in the region of €50m to €60m for Marmoush amid interest from Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle. With Premier League clubs vying for the forward’s signature, Frankfurt believe they can turn a huge profit from his sale after just one season.
Omar Marmoush on radar of Premier League bigwigs
Omar Marmoush has proven himself in the Bundesliga, and he is certainly good enough for the Premier League. Liverpool, Spurs and Newcastle could all use a quality centre-forward next season, and the Egyptian has emerged as a potential target.
Liverpool could be under pressure to cash in on Mohamed Salah in the summer as he enters the final year of his contract. Given Salah’s fantastic goalscoring record and overall output for the Reds since arriving at Anfield, they will need to replace him. Replacing the Egyptian star will undoubtedly be a major challenge, and his compatriot Marmoush could be an intriguing option for Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have Richarlison and Son Heung-min as striker options. However, they are yet to replace Harry Kane adequately, and with Son set to turn 32 in July, the Lilywhites could turn to Marmoush to add a bit more spice and variety to their attack. The Frankfurt star would not only compete with Son and Richarlison but also add much-needed depth to the attacking unit next season when Spurs return to Europe once again.
Likewise, Newcastle need an upgrade on Callum Wilson, who has endured an injury-hit campaign. There is no doubting the England international’s quality in front of goal but it is his lack of availability that has hurt Eddie Howe’s side. In his absence, Alexander Isak is the only other reliable striker available at Howe’s disposal, while Anthony Gordon and Miguel Almiron have operated as a false 9 a few times this term.
Thus, Newcastle desperately need to invest in a quality striker for the 2024/25 campaign, and Marmoush fits the profile perfectly.
All three Premier League clubs can afford Marmoush’s reported price tag, and the 25-year-old could turn out to be a quality signing for them in the long run. Also, the opportunity to play in the Premier League and compete with the best players should be an exciting proposition for the ex-Wolfsburg striker. All in all, it will be interesting to see where the Egypt star ends up eventually.
