Thomas Partey has been linked with a summer exit.
Atletico Madrid are reportedly considering Getafe midfielder Mauro Arambarri as a possible replacement for Thomas Partey, who has been linked with a summer exit, with Arsenal looking keen on his signature. Rojiblancos are said to be looking for a life without the Ghanaian midfielder as they have sorted out Arambarri as a prime candidate to replace him on the long run.
Partey’s exit on the cards
Partey is said to be keen on parting ways with Atletico after eight long years – including his loan spells and the time with youth and reserves team. The 27-year-old has been valued around £45m, and there is no surprise if a club of Arsenal’s size signs him in the upcoming transfer window, given his world-class quality. Thomas Partey had been linked with Manchester United last year, but he decided to stay in Madrid.
Rojiblancos, who made an overhaul last summer by letting go a set of players and bringing in some fresh and young faces – most notably the marquee signing young superstar Joao Felix, would be generating a certain amount of money in the event of Partey’s departure.
Arambarri – a vital cog in Bordalas’ system
Jose Bordalas’ Getafe has turned the heads of many after their impressive run in La Liga this season, though they look pragmatic and irritable with their style of play. Their Europa League run has also been brilliant, and Arambarri without a doubt is one of the key reasons behind it. The Uruguayan signed for Getafe in 2017 initially on loan before they opted to buy him permanently.
The 24-year-old has proved himself as an efficient ball winner and stands out defensively – a quality which could attract Diego Simeone as he wants of his men to put a defensive shift. However, his on the ball qualities leave a lot to be desired, but it can be forgiven as his side prefers to be the inferior one in possession.
Atletico would find it difficult to find a player of Partey’s quality, who has a better understanding of Simeone’s style of play than none other. Nevertheless, Arambarri would be bought for a measly amount, and he has a better understanding of La Liga’s rough nature. Under the guidance of Simeone, the Uruguayan can grow from strength to strength and learn from veterans like Koke.
Atletico have shown everyone that they are no more inferior when it comes to the transfer business as they have lured some top quality players around Europe. Arambarri would be no exception, and a move to Wando Metropolitano would be an upgrade for his career, given that Rojiblancos always strive for a place in the Champions League.
