Julian Nagelsmann is a front-runner for the Tottenham job after the club sacked Antonio Conte on Sunday.
Tottenham parted ways with Antonio Conte after his explosive rant post his team’s 3-3 draw with Southampton in the Premier League before the ongoing international break, as the Italian tactician left the role by mutual consent. Conte, 53, became the third Spurs boss to get sacked since the club decided to cut ties with Mauricio Pochettino in November 2019.
In a statement released by the club on Sunday, Cristian Stellini, Conte’s assistant manager, will take temporary charge until the end of the season. Ryan Mason will act as Stellini’s assistant manager.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is in search of a replacement for Conte ahead of the summer, with Julian Nagelsmann heavily linked with a move to north London following his sacking from Bayern Munich. Eintracht Frankfurt’s Oliver Glasner is also reportedly in the running for the job, while Mauricio Pochettino is tipped for a return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Julian Nagelsmann was sacked by Bayern Munich last week, despite pushing for the Bundesliga and Champions League titles this season. He has been replaced by Thomas Tuchel, who was out of the job since being sacked by Chelsea last year.
Bayern Munich’s decision to pull the trigger on Julian Nagelsmann has sent shockwaves across Europe, with the club in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and just a point behind Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga standings ahead of their Der Klassiker.
Nagelsmann, 35, is one of Europe’s most sought-after managers, having started his managerial career at 1899 Hoffenheim’s youth academy in 2010. He spent three years with Hoffenheim’s senior team before going on to manage RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich.
The 35-year-old, who turned down Real Madrid in 2018, has apparently become one of Tottenham’s leading candidates to replace Conte after his shock dismissal from Bayern. The north London club were keen on hiring Nagelsmann before he joined Bayern in 2021.
Nagelsmann’s tactical flexibility, astute reading of the game and work with younger players make him a good fit for Spurs, who have made some really exciting signings in the last few transfer windows. In still such a relatively young career, he has won trophies with Bayern and earned solid experience of managing in the Bundesliga.
Yet, it remains to be seen if Daniel Levy can convince Nagelsmann to take the job at Spurs. For now, Spurs are expected to seek talks with the 35-year-old tactician, regardless of not setting a timeline for appointing their next permanent head coach.
