1. Liverpool will be more hungry after their last season’s disappointment

Liverpool mounted an incredible title charge last season, winning 30 matches while losing only one. By the end of the season, the Reds had amassed 97 points which should have got them the Premier League title. Only Manchester City was just as good and eventually won the Premier League title by the difference of one point.

This disappointment should fuel their hunger to win the PL title again. It was quite clear from their previous three matches that they are just as motivated now as they were in the previous season.

2. Salah, Firmino, and Mane

The current Liverpool team has star players for almost all their positions. Especially, their front trio is a source of terror for all the other top European teams.

Last season, Salah, Firmino, and Mane scored a combined 69 goals in all competitions. They are looking just as good this term with Salah scoring 3 goals so far while Mane and Firmino also opening their scoring accounts. If these three players stay fit for the entire campaign, then they could easily lift the PL title which has been eluding them for quite some time now.

3. Liverpool have the best league defense

Liverpool’s defense is in the hands of Virgil van Dijk, currently one of the best defenders in the world. The Reds paid a hefty sum for signing Van Dijk from Southampton, but the Dutch international proved himself worth every penny. He is a strong, powerful defender who is a nightmare for the other Premier League forwards.

While Alisson (who is currently injured but expected to recover soon) has also contributed a great deal to improve Liverpool’s defense. With these two players in the team, Liverpool can rightly boast of possessing a great defence.

4. Champions League victory

Last season, Liverpool got the biggest consolation imaginable when they landed the Champions League trophy. After the humiliating defeat at Camp Nou, there wasn’t a lot of hope left for Liverpool. Yet, they registered a memorable victory against Barcelona at Anfield and knocked the Catalans out of the elite European competition.

They played with the same determination and will in the CL final against Tottenham and eventually won that match easily. Liverpool must be very confident after such a great victory. Their European Cup victory could serve as a catalyst for more successes.
