Following in the footsteps of Real Madrid, it is now FC Barcelona’s turn to reveal its new home kit for the 2023-2024 season. This year, the design of the jersey revolves around women’s football, as explained by the club in its statement.
“FC Barcelona presents its new home kit for the 2023/24 season, the first Club kit inspired by the women’s team, featuring wide classic stripes and the original colours of Barça, but with a small detail: a diamond above the crest. This represents the first women’s team in history to play a football match at Spotify Camp Nou. It reflects the pioneering spirit of Barça, being a leader both in sports through its historic successes and in social commitments.”
A kit that returns to the fundamentals
If you were not aware of the significance of this diamond, “it brings back the symbolic diamond from 1971, which appeared on the attire of the first women’s supporters’ club.” That’s the story behind this kit, which incorporates the traditional colours of Barça and is more classic compared to the designs of recent years. It resembles the jerseys from the early 80s with three wide Blaugrana stripes.
