Bayern Munich is Interested in Hiring Antonio Conte

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Bavarians seek to bring Antonio Conte to the club as a replacement for Niko Kovač after what can only be described as a mediocre season for the Bayern Munich. But with Inter and AS Roma in the race to sign Conte, the signing of a new coach seems like it’s far from a sure thing.

The ex-Chelsea coach, Antonio Conte is reportedly on the wishlist of three clubs; Inter Milan, AS Roma and Bayern Munich, who all expressed their desire to bring him into their club in hopes to improve their chances of achieving greatness next season. But there are supposedly problems with Conte’s salary expectations, which just might make him out of reach for both Italian clubs, who cannot afford his salary. Bayern Munich, on the other side, have the needed money to bring Antonio Conte to their club and even expressed that they would be prepared to pay his salary if he decided to join them.

Despite the rumours of Conte replacing Niko Kovac, the club president, Uli Hoeneß praised Kovac, who has lead Bayern out of the “valley in November”. During his 42 games as a coach, Kovac managed to bring his team to a respectable record of 30-7-5, however, his seat is still red hot and could be replaced by a well-established and world renown coach Antonio Conte. While the club president Uli Hoeneß praised Kovac and his ability to bring Bayern back into the title race, the club president, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge remained quiet about the possible replacement for Kovac, whom he did not give any guarantee he will stay at the club.

If the deal with Antonio Conte goes through, he would end up joining the long Bayern Munich list of some of the best coaches the football world has ever seen that were a part of the German side. Those names include Jupp Heynckes, Louis van Gaal, Pep Guardiola and of course Carlo Ancelotti, who all held the position as the head coaches of Bayern Munich in the last 10 years.

But what are the chances of Antonio Conte actually ending up in Bayern? The fact that Bayern can pay him the wanted salary surely won’t be the deciding factor, but rather Conte himself, who will decide where he would like to continue his rich coaching career. With a resume of being one of the best coaches in the world, Conte will look for a team which can bring him more titles, or in other words for a club that has a strong squad which has the potential of winning the Champions League. With that in mind, Bayern Munich would be a perfect option. They have got the finances, and the team for Conte to take over and mould into European powerhouses.

As far as his price goes, €10 million net salary is what Conte is looking to get in his next contract. This was the salary written on the contract with Chelsea, where he was holding a position as the head coach until he got sacked in 2018, however, he wishes to maintain the number €10 million, which bear in mind is still €2.5 million higher than Massimiliano Allegri and  Zinedine Zidane. If his salary is justified is up to debate, but what matter is that Bayern Munich believe €10 million is a reasonable sum.
