West Ham United are in talks with Danish club Nordsjaelland over a move for winger Ibrahim Osman.
A product of the Right To Dream Academy in Ghana, Ibrahim Osman, 19, moved to Nordsjaelland last year and made his debut in February 2023. The teenager has been in good form for Nordsjaelland this season, scoring a goal and supplying four assists in 16 league appearances. The Ghanaian’s performances in the Danish Superliga have not gone unnoticed, with Brentford and Brighton also keen on his signature.
But West Ham have reportedly stolen a march on their Premier League rivals in the race to sign Osman before next week’s transfer deadline. The Irons now appear firm favourites for the winger’s signature and are hoping to thrash out a deal with Nordsjaelland worth around £16million.
Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips closing in on West Ham move
Before wrapping up a deal for Ibrahim Osman, West Ham look set to make their first signing of the winter transfer window in the form of Kalvin Phillips.
Kalvin Phillips, 28, is understood to have travelled back to the United Kingdom from Manchester City’s training camp in the United Arab Emirates yesterday after the clubs struck an agreement over a loan move until end the of the season with an option to buy in the summer and is expected to undergo a medical on Thursday. Details over the structure of an option to make the move permanent still need to be fully confirmed but that won’t wreck a potential move.
Several clubs had registered an interest in the English midfielder but have been put off by the conditions of the deal set by Man City. The potential deal will see West Ham cover the vast majority of Phillips’ wages and they remain open to making the move permanent under the right financial conditions.
Phillips has been limited to just 31 appearances since signing for Man City from Leeds United in 2022. Despite being on the fringes at the Etihad Stadium, England boss Gareth Southgate has retained faith in his ability and picked him in the squad whenever he has been fit.
The 28-year-old has been a long-term target for West Ham boss David Moyes, who failed to sign the player from Leeds in January 2022. The defensive midfielder will arrive at the London Stadium in search of regular football as he bids to make his way into England’s squad for Euro 2024 in the summer.
