The Belgian striker and one of the deadliest Premier League strikers has reportedly agreed on the payment-cut and transfer to Serie A giants, Inter Milan, where he will take a role of a key striker.

At first, the transfer of Lukaku to Inter was thought to be a move of Inter to replace the troublesome Icardi, whose future at inter is still under a big question. Jumping from the news that Icardi is 100% leaving to him stating Inter is his family and he is not willing to leave meanwhile not signing a new contract leaves us dumbfounded and confused on how will it all end.

While there were several reports of him leaving, the most recent ones suggest Icardi will stay with Inter for the next season, which if it proves to be true, would mean Inter Milan will boast a strong attack with the addition of Belgian striker… but there is a problem with the release clause asked for Lukaku.

Romelu Lukaku joined Manchester United in the summer of 2017 and played a crucial role in the team ever since. Combining 96 appearances for Manchester United, during which Lukaku scored 42 goals and added 13 assists, the Belgian striker left a huge mark in Manchester United as well as EPL as a whole. Proving his worth year after year, it should not be surprising Lukaku has made a name for himself as a great player and an excellent addition to any team that would sign him. Despite enjoying a successful campaign at the “Red Devils”, the rumours of him leaving Manchester United sparked up after a terrible end of the season which resulted in United missing out on next season’s Champions League. With plenty of clubs that would benefit from signing Lukaku, it was, in the end, Inter, who expressed the most desire to do so, namely the desire of Inter’s new coach Antonio Conte who is a huge fan of Romelu Lukaku.

Inter Milan’s boss Antonio Conte failed to sign Lukaku while he was the boss of Chelsea and was now given another great opportunity to do so, which he did not let go to waste. As a coach of a club which was already in talks with Belgian striker before, Conte is in a great position to sign Lukaku.

As it’s reported the deal is more or less done, with Gazzetta dello Sport claiming that Lukaku has already informed Inter he would take a pay cut to join them. With the deal between Lukaku and Inter in the final stages, there is one more hurdle the two sides have to jump over, and that “hurdle” is Manchester United, who are not too keen on letting Lukaku go for cheap. The Red Devils demand €70 million for the Belgian and are reportedly not prepared to accept any form of player plus cash deal. That alone is a huge problem for Inter Milan, who now cannot afford to pay €70 million.

This issue now returns us back to Icardi, whose future is unclear. If Inter Milan manage to find a buyer for Icardi, who is valued at €75 million, the Nerazzurri will have enough money to go directly to Manchester United and take Lukaku back with them to Italy. But we are once again left with one big “IF”. Taking everything into consideration, the future of Lukaku at Inter lies in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s hands, who is not willing to take anything less than €70 million, not even €30 million + Ivan Perisic. Will Inter and Manchester United come to an agreement is yet to be seen, however with a planned complete overhaul of Manchester United this season, the two teams will most likely come to an agreement before the transfer window closes.
