Mariano Diaz Rejected a Move to Arsenal

Young Real Madrid talent Mariano Diaz has rejected a move to Arsenal, stating he has no desire to play under Unai Emery. This now puts a stop to a transfer both teams would benefit from. Arsenal would get a talented striker for a discount price of €20 million, while Real Madrid would get the money they need for their move for Paul Pogba.

Mariano Diaz, a 25-year-old centre forward has been linked with a possible move to Arsenal earlier this month after the announcement of Zinedine Zidane’s decision to “clear up” the team to raise funds and make room for Paul Pogba. Unfortunately for Mariano Diaz, he was marked as surplus by Real Madrid boss, who went so far to offer him to Arsenal for a discounted price of €20 million. This would be a fantastic move for Arsenal who did not hesitate to accept the deal, however, it was Mariano Diaz, who was not too keen on the offered move.

Mariano Diaz, who re-joined Real Madrid last season after spending one year in France got to wear the famous no.7 shirt and was hoping to find his place at his old club. However, he fell out of Real Madrid’s plans for the future with the arrival of Zinedine Zidane who has plans of his own for Real Madrid, which do not involve Mariano Diaz. It’s a known fact that Zinedine Zidane will completely revamp the most successful team in the world of football, and while no one knew exactly what and how he will do it, some players have found themselves to be the “undesired” in the new chapter of Real Madrid, which will step into 2019/20 season hoping to reclaim the Spanish and European throne.

The news of Mariano Diaz being sent to Arsenal did not spark any enthusiasm in the Spanish striker, who stated he is not interested in a move and would rather fight for his place at the Bernabeu. But there is little to suggest his desires and wishes will be heard. The now-legendary no.7 shirt, which was worn by Real Madrid legends Ronaldo, Raul, Kopa, Juanito and Butragueno has been passed onto Mariano Diaz, who was expected to be the new “big thing” at Real Madrid. But the plans have changed, which also means Mariano Diaz will lose the no. 7 shirt, which will be given to the new arrival Eden Hazard.

Where that leaves Mariano Diaz does is a huge mystery. Refusing a move from a club, which clearly stated he is not needed might prove to be a costly mistake as he could see himself benched for most of the season. Despite that, it was reported that Mariano Diaz is determined to prove his worth and get back on Zinedine Zidane’s good side. Another and most likely better option is for Mariano Diaz to move to one of the other clubs who have expressed their desire to sign him. Recent reports have suggested both AC Milan and AS Roma are very keen on signing the “undesired” Galacticos and while there is no official news on the possible transfer yet, it just might be the last chance for Mariano Diaz to find himself a new club following his refusal to move into EPL.
