Manchester United make approach to sign Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy

Manchester United have approached to sign Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy in the January transfer window.

Serhou Guirassy

Serhou Guirassy, 27, has been in exceptional form for Stuttgart this season with 15 goals in 10 appearances so far, propelling the Bundesliga into the Champions League discussion. He is the second-highest goalscorer in the Bundesliga behind Harry Kane, who has 17 goals for Bayern Munich.

The Guinea international has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe following his fantastic start to the 2023/24 season. The striker is not short of options and a release clause of just £15million has made him a realistic target for a number of clubs. Manchester United are reportedly extremely interested in Guirassy’s services and are looking to bring him to Old Trafford as competition for Rasmus Hojlund, who has failed to score in the Premier League so far.

Man United will face competition from Newcastle for Serhou Guirassy

Erik ten Hag remains in the market for a new striker to cover and compete with Hojlund, who arrived in a £72 million deal from Atalanta in the summer. While Hojlund has lighted the Champions League with five goals in as many appearances, he has endured a slow start in the Premier League and is yet to open his account.

So, Man United are looking at strikers who can come in and make an immediate impact. Stuttgart star Serhou Guirassy has emerged as a potential target for Ten Hag’s side ahead of the winter window. However, any move for Guirassy may depend on finding a suitor for Anthony Martial, who is yet to complete a Premier League game this season.

The Stuttgart striker is also believed to be on the radar of Newcastle United, as Eddie Howe looks to bolster his attacking options after his being hampered by injuries to both Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson at different phases this campaign. Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Fulham and Brentford have also been linked with the Guinean striker in the past.

Guirassy would be keen to play in the Premier League and test himself at the highest level. Man United and Newcastle have expressed interest in signing him, but with many other clubs also monitoring his developments, there could be a scramble for the striker’s signature in the winter window.
