Liverpool Reportedly in Talks With Ryan Fraser

Rumours surfaced last week suggesting that Liverpool are in advanced talks with Bournemouth as they look to acquire the Scottish winger Ryan Fraser in the January’s transfer window, for that to happen, however, Liverpool would be forced to let go of Harry Wilson who is currently on a loan at the Cherries.

Ryan Fraser of Bournemouth

As recent reports suggest the EPL league leaders are in advanced talks with Bournemouth over a possible transfer of Ryan Fraser in January and are close to closing the deal in the upcoming days. There were reportedly already talks between Bournemouth and Liverpool this summer when Bournemouth were reluctant to allow Fraser to leave following an impressive campaign last season. They were, however, forced to change their stance, seeing how Fraser has only six more months left on his contract.

But it’s not only Liverpool who are keen on signing Fraser. Reports suggest it’s Fraser himself, who also expressed his desire to play under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, which would be a lifetime opportunity for him, as he would secure a move to one of the biggest clubs in EPL and in the world. Forced to accept the deal, as they are unable to keep Fraser on board against his will, it was claimed by many media outlets Bournemouth would be interested in swapping Fraser to keep the loanee Harry Wilson, who has arrived at the club from Liverpool on a loan in August 2019. Since his arrival at Bournemouth, Wilson has been putting up some solid displays and has earned himself a key role in his new team. In 11 EPL appearances, Wilson scored four goals which is only a tip of the iceberg of his standout performances, so it’s easy to see why Bournemouth are very keen on keeping him on board.

Fraser on the other side, failed to recapture his form from last season, scoring only one goal and adding two assists in 11 Premier League appearances. That is far worse in comparison to Fraser’s last season when he scored seven and added 14 assists for Bournemouth. That said, we have to take into consideration illness and injury did hold Fraser back this season and we can only guess what kind of numbers he would put up if he had been healthy from the start of 2019/20 campaign.

Ryan Fraser had been linked with Arsenal in the summer transfer window, but he decided to stay in Bournemouth.

As it stands now, there are no confirmation whether the deal will come through nor about the prices of the players or whether Liverpool are ready to let Wilson go in order to secure Fraser. That said, there are arguments to be made Liverpool should take the deal. Fraser has proven his quality before and seeing how Liverpool can get him for relatively cheap, he could prove to be one of the best cheap-ish additions to the team. Furthermore, Fraser is only 25 years old, which gives him more time to grow as a player and we can confidently say he will be given an opportunity to grow at Liverpool, which is filled with experienced players and staff. The third thing we have to consider is that Fraser was been consistently a very solid player in the EPL. He might have weeks when he won’t store a goal, but that does not mean he won’t be involved in creating chances. To date, he has 16 goals and 27 assists, which clearly displays he is a goal scorer as well as a creator.

Will the deal come through or not is anyone’s guess but all things considered, this could prove to be a very beneficial move for both sides, so it would be safe to expect Fraser will be joining Liverpool this winter transfer window.
