Eduardo Camavinga on the radar of Liverpool

One of Liverpool’s main weaknesses has been the lack of bench depth. The former Premier League champions boast of one of the strongest XIs in the League but the same cannot be said about their bench strength.

It has become a pattern for the Kop in recent years as they tend to lose the plot in their title charge during this time of the season, owing to injuries and unavailability. For example, the absence of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane have seen goals dry up for Liverpool against quality sides and their attack in the absence of the duo has rarely penetrated the opposition defence, as it happened in the game against Arsenal.

With that said, Liverpool have been tipped to get into business this month but with the winter window fast reaching its closure, the Reds are yet to make a signing.

Eduardo Camavinga could join Liverpool

Spanish outlet El Nacional claims that Liverpool have been following the development of Eduardo Camavinga from his time in Rennes. The French midfielder though was snapped up by Real Madrid in the dying embers of the summer window and it is unlikely that the Los Blancos will look to part ways with the talented midfielder after just having him for half a season.

The source reports that Liverpool are ready to wait for ‘as long as it takes’ for the 19-year-old, whose playing time has been drastically reduced at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Casemiro, Kroos and Modric proving why they are from done at this level.

It is understood that Liverpool believe, with the absence of Georgino Wjinaldum, Camavinga can gain prominence and some much-needed minutes at Anfield.

The source, however, does suggest that a ‘significant fee’ is required to convince the Whites to part ways with one of their most talented players and any moves from the side of Liverpool will materialise in the summer window only.

However, it does look unlikely that Liverpool will pursue Camavinga so soon into his Real Madrid career.

Dembele links grow as the relationship with Barcelona deteriorates

Barcelona-outcast Ousmane Dembele failed to report to training today at Ciutat Esportiva and the official reasoning has been that the player was suffering from ‘stomach issues’; claimed by RMC Sport (via GFFN). However, numerous Spanish sources have indicated that no one from the management at Barca believes that this is the case with the player and the former La Liga champions are set to penalise the player for this.

This comes in the light of growing tensions between Barcelona and Dembele over failed renewal talks. The 24-year-old is in the final six months of his contract and is free to negotiate a pre-transfer agreement with any potential suitor that might approach him. That being said, Dembele’s extraordinary wage demands mean that only a handful of clubs can afford him. The Frenchman is said to be demanding €200 million across 5 years in addition to a €20 million signing-on bonus for himself and his agent.

If Liverpool do decide to go for Dembele, they will have to rejig their entire wage structure, something that is very unlikely of the Reds.

Liverpool pass on signing Denis Zakaria

Denis Zakaria is one of the many players who is also in the last six months of his contract and with him unlikely to renew with Borussia Monchengladbach, he could be on his way out next summer, if not this winter.

Reports from ESPN earlier this week suggested that Liverpool were one of the frontrunners to sign the midfielder but it is understood that the Reds are now out of the race to sign Zakaria.

“So that is the situation. There is no need just to buy a midfielder because someone is on the market. I cannot help the supporters who want us to sign a player just to get somebody in.”

“We did our business as well and now we should be ready. If you’re really with us and really think about it, you’ll realise there is no real need.”
