The England international, 20, has become one of the most important players in Mikel Arteta’s young side and is enjoying another strong season at the Emirates Stadium. He has registered five goals and four assists in 19 Premier League appearances, playing a crucial role in Arsenal’s recent upturn in form and rise to fourth in the table. The wide attacker was at his sublime best in the Gunners’ 5-0 walloping of Norwich City on Boxing Day, bagging a brace.

The Gunners view Bukayo Saka as a future star and are believed to be keen to tie him down to a new contract, with a six-year contract already believed to be on the table. However, the exciting 20-year-old and his entourage are interested in the prospect of joining Liverpool.

The Reds’ fiery front-three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah will be all in their 30s at the start of the 2022/23 campaign. Thus, it is not a surprise to see Jurgen Klopp on the lookout for his attacking trinity’s long-term replacements. And he is interested in signing Saka, whose meteoric rise to prominence at Arsenal has caught the eye of many big clubs around Europe.

Mohamed Salah out of contract in 2023

In recent years, Mohamed Salah has established himself as one of the best players in world football. He is a crucial part of Liverpool’s famed front three and has helped Jurgen Klopp’s side win the Champions League and the Premier League so far.

The Egyptian has been in devastating form since the beginning of the season, bagging 22 goals and nine assists in 25 games across all competitions. However, Salah’s current contract runs out in 2023 and he has been embroiled in a contract standoff with the Liverpool board. Talks continue between the club and the forward’s representatives as both sides aim to reach common ground in negotiations as quickly as possible.

Liverpool and Klopp would expect to see a breakthrough in negotiations before Salah leaves for the AFCON this month.

Bukayo Saka could be the long-term successor for Salah

With Salah’s contract winding down and there are no signs of a breakthrough over a bumper new contract, Klopp has supposedly started looking out for his long-term replacement. And Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka is one of the players who are of interest to the German tactician.

Since making his debut back in 2018, Saka has become an important player for Arsenal and has elevated his performances under Mikel Arteta. He is a versatile player who can operate in many attacking positions as well as at left-back or left wing-back. The 20-year-old has also broken into Gareth Southgate’s England squad, which is blessed with so much exciting talent at the moment.

Saka is a special player and the way he conducts himself on the pitch certainly belie his age. He has a long way to go in his career and a future move to Liverpool could be wonderful for his development. Even though the player is rumoured to be interested in a move to Anfield, the Reds would find it difficult to persuade Arsenal into selling one of their hottest prospects.
