Luis Diaz has been brought in to help add more firepower as well as competition within Liverpool’s ranks, and at £37million in today’s age and market, he could go onto become one of the steals in the footballing history.

  1. Bruno Guimaraes (Lyon to Newcastle United)

Newcastle United were the busiest Premier League club during the January transfer window, signing as many as five players. With the Magpies battling against relegation, it was important for the wealthiest club in the world to bring in fresh players and they did so.

Bruno Guimaraes was one of the fresh faces that arrived at St. James’ Park. The 24-year-old—one of the most talked players in the winter window—joined Newcastle in a £33 million deal to bolster Eddie Howe’s midfield ranks.  A full Brazilian international, he will aim to make an instant impact at Newcastle.

Having struggled to live up to his high billing at Barcelona, it was clear Coutinho, 29, needed a change of scenery to get back his mojo. The Brazilian has already made an impact at Aston Villa, and Gerrard will only hope it is just the beginning of better things to come from the playmaker.

  1. Kieran Trippier (Atletico Madrid to Newcastle United)

Another big name to arrive at St. James’ Park over the winter transfer window, Kieran Trippier has quickly settled down in Tyneside and delivered a couple of strong performances.

  1. Dele Alli (Tottenham to Everton)

Everton replaced Rafael Benitez with Frank Lampard as their new manager and Lampard quickly worked his magic on the deadline day, helping the Merseyside club sign Dele Alli from Tottenham.

Injuries to Abdoulaye Doucoure and Fabian Delph meant the Toffees could not let go of the opportunity to sign Alli, who was willing to move on from Spurs after getting frustrated with the lack of game time this term.

  1. Donny Van de Beek (On loan from Man United to Everton)

Everton were interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Donny Van de Beek last summer but the Red Devils blocked a move. Failure to start a single Premier League game this season meant Van de Beek was desperate to leave Man United in January for game time.

In came Everton again and signed the Dutchman on loan until the end of the season, offering the midfielder a chance to reinvigorate his club career that has stuttered since 2020.

  1. Lucas Digne (Everton to Aston Villa)

Lucas Digne fell out with Rafael Benitez at Everton, with the Spanish tactician implying the defender was putting the interests of himself above the club’s.

This led to Digne submitting a transfer request and Everton accepting it by selling him to Aston Villa in a £25 million deal. And the Frenchman has become the Villans’ first-choice left-back, displacing Matt Targett, who moved to Newcastle United on deadline day.

  1. Christian Eriksen (free agent to Brentford)

The creative midfielder is no stranger to the Premier League and would give Thomas Frank’s Brentford the lift they need for a successful second half of the season.

  1. Wout Weghorst (Wolfsburg to Burnley)

Burnley were shocked when Chris Wood decided to leave the club for relegation rivals Newcastle United. Wood has been an important player in Sean Dyche’s side and his untimely departure forced the Clarets to take a dip in the market for a replacement.

In came Wout Weghorst from Wolfsburg on deadline day; a 6ft 6ins striker who has scored prolifically in the Bundesliga over the last three seasons. The towering Dutchman has the same qualities as that Wood but it would be interesting to see whether he can hit the ground running in the Premier League.

  1. Dejan Kulusevski & Rodrigo Bentancur (Juventus to Tottenham)

It was proving to be a very frustrating window for Antonio Conte and Tottenham fans before the club announced the double swoop of Dejan Kulusevski & Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus. Bentancur has moved permanently, while Kulusevski has signed on an initial 18-month loan with an option to buy from Juventus.

Spurs are challenging for a top-four spot this season and Conte will hope both Kulusevski and Bentancur quickly adapt to the demands of Premier League football.
