Brest left-back Bradley Locko has been linked with a move to the Premier League at the end of the season.
Despite being contracted with Brest until 2027, Bradley Locko’s future remains a subject of speculation ahead of the summer transfer window. The Frenchman has enjoyed a solid campaign in Ligue 1, bagging three assists in 33 appearances. He has played a pivotal role in Brest’s fantastic campaign, with the Brittany outfit presently on course to qualify for next year’s Champions League. Unsurprisingly, the 22-year-old’s performances for Brest haven’t gone unnoticed, with several Premier League clubs showing an interest.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly attended Brest’s game against Reims on Friday to scout Locko. The 22-year-old played the full match as Brest drew 1-1 with Reims. Representatives from Aston Villa and West Ham United were also in attendance to run the rule over the French under-23 international, who has been a standout performer for Brest this campaign.
Brest are aware of the growing interest in their star and are bracing themselves for offers in the summer. They are unlikely to reject any sizeable bids that may be tabled to acquire Locko’s signature.
Premier League clubs could bid for Bradley Locko
Bradley Locko is expected to be named in the 2023/24 Ligue 1 of the season following his eye-catching displays during this season. Premier League clubs such as Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs seek reinforcements in the left-back position and could bid for the 22-year-old.
Liverpool’s interest in Locko comes as Andy Robertson, now in his 30s, has struggled with injury problems throughout the campaign. In his absence, Kostas Tsimikas was given limited opportunities to impress, with Jurgen Klopp preferring Joe Gomez over the Greek at left-back.
As for Chelsea, both Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella have not produced consistent performances on the pitch under Mauricio Pochettino, with the former spending a lot of time on the sidelines. Pochettino, if he remains the Chelsea boss, could dip in the transfer market for an upgrade on the injury-prone Chilwell. And Locko, in that regard, could be perfect for the Blues.
Meanwhile, the Spurs could use more quality and depth in the left-back area. Ben Davies is clearly past his prime and is simply not good enough as a squad option. It would be the right time for the Lilywhites to offload the Welshman and sign a new left-back to cover and compete with Destiny Udogie, who has enjoyed a fine breakout campaign in the Premier League under the tutelage of Ange Postecoglou. Energetic and enterprising, Locko would be a smashing long-term option for the North London side.
There is no shortage of interest from the Premier League for young Locko, who has a bright future ahead of him. It will be interesting to see where the French youth international ends up before the 2024/25 campaign commences.
