Arsenal hold initial talks with Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot’s agents

Arsenal are keen on a summer move for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, whose existing contract with the Old Lady is set to expire in June.

The Frenchman’s contract stalemate with Juventus has caused quite a stir among the Premier League clubs, with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United understood to be interested in signing him on a free transfer.

Juventus, though, remain determined to keep hold of him as they are confident that the midfielder will put pen to paper on fresh terms. Adrien Rabiot, 28, has again been a crucial player for the Bianconeri, scoring four goals and supplying three assists in 21 Serie A appearances. The 28-year-old found himself on the scoresheet in the 2-2 draw with Hellas Verona last weekend.

Arsenal have reportedly held talks with Rabiot’s representatives over a potential switch to the Emirates Stadium in the summer.

Futures of Jorginho, Thomas Partey at Arsenal in doubt

Arsenal are understood to be willing to offload Thomas Partey at the end of the season due to the central midfielder’s recurrent injury problems, provided they can bring in a replacement. Jorginho’s future at the club also remains in doubt, despite the Italian playing well when trusted by manager Mikel Arteta in big games.

As a result, Arteta has set his sights on signing Juventus star Adrien Rabiot. The Gunners’ boss wants to sign a player who can operate alongside Declan Rice in the middle of the park, and the 28-year-old’s physical attributes and wealth of experience make him the right fit for the Premier League.

Having arrived on a free transfer from Juventus in 2019, Rabiot has made 199 appearances for Juventus, bagging 21 goals and 15 assists in the process. At 28, the France international is at the peak of his powers and could make an immediate impact for Arteta’s side next season. He would offer some real steel and tenacity to their engine room, whilst enhancing the overall depth of the squad. Plus, the ex-PSG man’s potential availability on a free transfer adds an extra layer of interest, given his proven pedigree in Europe.

Arsenal’s proactive approach in holding talks with Rabiot’s agents points to their resolve to bolster their squad for the 2024/25 campaign. If they can beat their rivals to the Frenchman’s signature, it would represent a big statement of intent for Arteta.
