Liverpool will look to get their first win of the new Premier League season on Saturday when they welcome the newly promoted Bournemouth to Anfield.

The Merseysiders extended their winless streak to three games with a 2-1 loss to fiercest rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday. This left them 16th on the table with just two points from the opening three games.

Jurgen Klopp would have been hugely disappointed with his team’s performance in the North-West Derby and is bound to demand a response against Bournemouth.

Liverpool Team News

In Ibrahima Konate, Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Liverpool have a host of stars on the sidelines. Naby Keita is unlikely to be fit to face Bournemouth, while Darwin Nunez serves the second of his three-match ban after receiving a straight red card against Crystal Palace.

The good news for Jurgen Klopp is Roberto Firmino recovered fully from his injury and played the full game against Man United. So, he will be an option in attack at the weekend.

Goalkeeper

Despite conceding five goals in three games, Alisson Becker will start in goal for Jurgen Klopp’s side. One of the best goalkeepers in world football, he will be raring to keep his first clean sheet of the season.

Defence

Injuries to Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate mean Joe Gomez will once again partner Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the Liverpool backline. Van Dijk has had a poor start to the season and came under a lot of criticism for his performance against Man United, so the Dutchman will be eager to bounce back with a strong performance on Saturday.

Likewise, Trent Alexander-Arnold endured a tough evening at Old Trafford. However, his position at right-back is under no immediate threat, as Klopp expects Alexander-Arnold to answer his critics in style. At left-back, Andrew Robertson remains a guaranteed starter for Liverpool.

Midfield

There is every chance of Fabinho being restored back to the first XI at Anfield. The Brazilian dropped to the bench against Man United and his absence was dearly felt, and by the time he came on, the game had gone far away from the Reds’ hands.

Fabinho will take his usual position just ahead of the backline, partnering Jordan Henderson and Harvey Elliot to make a dynamic midfield trio that dominates Bournemouth. This will see James Milner dropping out of the starting XI.

If Naby Keita recovers in time for the game, he will make the Liverpool bench at the most.

Attack

As for the offensive unit, Klopp is likely to stick with the front three of Luis Diaz, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah. The attacking triumvirate will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing Bournemouth, who have conceded seven goals combined in the last two games.

With Darwin Nunez suspended and Diogo Jota injured, Klopp will only have Fabio Carvalho as a backup attacking option to bring on if required.
