According to the Spanish outlet Football Espana, Barcelona midfielder is reportedly opting not to be part of the squad for the Champions League games as he hasn’t returned to training after a short holiday break. The Brazilian had signed for Juventus in a swap deal, which will see Miralem Pjanic heading to the Camp Nou this summer. Arthur was expected to cherish his final months at Barca but it is not the case now. It is understood that Arthur had travelled to his homeland after spending his holiday at Ibiza. He has decided not to return to the Blaugrana – which could be of the reason he hasn’t enjoyed much game time ever since he announced his transfer.

The report also adds that Arthur will have his consequences should the situation remain the same. Blaugrana are also said to be not hesitant to take action for the Brazilian’s absence.

It has not been the season for Arthur that he could have expected. After showing a glimpse of his talent in his debut season – 18/19 campaign, the former Gremio star was tipped to be an integral part of the Blaugrana this season. The first half of the season looked promising for the 23-year-old although he had miss few games owing to injury. But the arrival of Quique proved to be detrimental for Arthur’s success as he often found himself on the bench. The former Setien appeared to have less faith in the Brazilian and also preferred Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets in the starting line-up. This was the time when the transfer rumours regarding his exit started to surface, which eventually turned as real.

Setien drew some controversy over his comments on Arthur’s transfer, which didn’t go well with the Brazilian’s family.

“Arthur is neither the first player nor the last to sign for a club with high expectations that do not bear fruit.”

“Maybe he lacked a bit of continuity. It is not easy to change things that other coaches have told him were good, like holding the ball when we want to play two touches.”

As a consequence, Arthur’s mother clapped back at the manager for such comments.

Initially, Arthur was persistent in succeeding in the Blaugrana shirt and often stated his desire to play for the Catalans.

There is always speculation but my idea is clear. The only option that interests me is staying at Barcelona. ( h/t Goal.com)

The supposed interest of big clubs is always flattering and a positive sign, but my mind is on playing for Barcelona for many years.”

It looked as if Arthur had lost his faith after what appeared to be mistreatment from the Blaugrana – which led for his transfer.
