The Red Devils have yet to win since beating arch-rivals Liverpool 4-3 in the FA Cup quarter-finals at Old Trafford last month. They have drawn with Brentford, Liverpool and Bournemouth and lost to Chelsea in the Premier League, dropping to seventh in the table as a result.

The FA Cup represents the last opportunity for Erik ten Hag and Co to win silverware this season. They face a highly motivated Coventry side, who overcame Midlands rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-2 in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Manchester United Team News

Manchester United have been handed a timely triple-injury boost ahead of the massive cup tie against Coventry City, with the likes of Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay and Antony set to be available for selection. Antony was a mystery absentee for last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Bournemouth, while Maguire had a small thigh issue in that game. McTominay was injured during the 4-3 loss to Chelsea and has subsequently missed the last two games.

Meanwhile, Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane, Tyrell Malacia and Anthony Martial are all still sidelined.

Goalkeeper

A permanent fixture in goal, Andre Onana should be aiming to play his part in helping Man United overcome Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-final.

Defence

Harry Maguire’s availability is a massive boost for the Red Devils due to a defensive crisis. The England international’s leadership and organisational skills will be required at the back against an attacking Coventry side. He will be partnered by young Willy Kambwala in central defence.

Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka should take up their spots at full-back, hoping to make contributions at both ends of the pitch on Sunday.

Midfield

Even if Scott McTominay is cleared to play, Casemiro should partner Kobbie Mainoo at the heart of Man United’s midfield. Being a hugely experienced figure in the team, Casemiro’s responsibility gets bigger in this massive game and he must provide the platform for Mainoo to thrive in advanced areas of the pitch.

Bruno Fernandes has been among the goals in the last few games, and the Portuguese international will be itching to make a big impact against the Robins. He is a certain starter in the No.10 role, meaning the likes of Christian Eriksen, Mason Mount, Sofyan Amrabat and McTominay must settle for spots on the bench.

Attack

Antony and Amad Diallo will be pushing for starts thanks to their goals in the quarter-final win over Liverpool. However, Ten Hag is likely to stick with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho on the wings. Rasmus Hojlund will complete the Man United attack, with the Dane hoping to end his recent barren run in front of goal.
