With another disappointing Manchester United season behind him scoring 1 goal in 20 appearances, the Manchester United board, fans and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær have had enough of Alexis Sanchez and want to get rid of him and free up the high wages that he is currently on. With European sides such as Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Inter Milan and even Arsenal interested in the 30-year-old attacker, he’s not short of potential suitors.
Alexis Sanchez has had an impressive career making 88 appearances for FC Barcelona before moving on to Arsenal for a new challenge. As he ran his contract down, Manchester United, Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain were all interested in the services of the Chilean. Manchester United were worried that they’d miss out to bitter rivals Manchester City in signing Alexis Sanchez, therefore, they paid ridiculous wages to land him. After arriving at Manchester United, he failed to live up to expectations and now he’s facing a move away from Old Trafford.
Atletico Madrid were the first team to show their interest in signing Alexis Sanchez, although there haven’t been any figures being rumoured, the cost will be very low as Manchester United are very eager to get rid of the player.
Atletico are not short of forward options with Thomas Lemar, Angel Correa, Nikola Kalinic, Vitolo and Diego Costa all able to occupy front three positions. Antoine Griezmann seems to be heading for a transfer to Paris Saint Germain or FC Barcelona, therefore, they’ll be looking for another attacker. None of Atletico Madrid’s current attacking players offer the pace of Alexis Sanchez as he can play on either wing and striker. This would be a great piece of business for Atletico provided they can keep his wages low.
Juventus are currently linked with young Portuguese star Joao Felix but they could turn their attention to Alexis Sanchez if they fail in their attempts. Although Juventus are not short of attacking options as they have Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala, Douglas Costa, Juan Cuadrado, Mario Mandžukić, Moise Kean and Federico Bernardeschi all on their roster. They’ll definitely be looking to offload some of these in the summer, most notably Costa, Mandzukic and Cuadrado if they are to bring in Alexis Sanchez.
Inter Milan are likely to be heading into next season without their talisman Mauro Icardi and will be desperate to add a big name to replace him as Alexis Sanchez definitely fits the bill. Next season, they’ll be losing loanees Matteo Politano and Keita Balde back to their parent clubs. So for the 2019-20 season, they’ll have attacking options in Lautaro Martinez and Ivan Perisic, but they’ll definitely need to add some more attackers in the upcoming window and Alexis Sanchez would be a great addition.
A move to Arsenal seems unlikely, the fans will have a mixed reaction after he left them in 2018 but he would improve their attack immensely. They have Aubameyang, Lacazette, Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan but would definitely want to add Alexis Sanchez to that list if he becomes available to them.
