Tottenham scout Brighton striker Evan Ferguson

Tottenham are among the Premier League clubs keen on signing Brighton teenager Evan Ferguson in the summer, with the north London club viewing him as a potential long-term replacement for Harry Kane.

Evan Ferguson

Evan Ferguson, 18, who arrived at Brighton from Bohemians in 2021 as a 16-year-old, is enjoying his breakthrough season at the Amex Stadium after making a total of four appearances across all competitions last campaign. He has registered an impressive three goals and two assists in seven Premier League appearances so far, making the striker one of the hottest talents in the English top-flight.

The two-cap Republic of Ireland international became the Seagulls’ youngest Premier League goal scorer when he netted in a 4-2 loss to Arsenal at the Amex Stadium on New Year’s Eve. Ferguson’s eye-catching displays have also caught the attention of many Premier League clubs, including Spurs and Chelsea.

Tottenham have reportedly scouted the 18-year-old striker and believe he could be an ideal long-term replacement for Kane, who is approaching 30 and has been linked with a move away from north London heavily over the last couple of years.

Harry Kane’s future at Spurs remains in limbo

It is no secret that Harry Kane is on the radar of some of the Premier League’s top clubs. He is on his way to becoming the greatest goalscorer in Premier League history, with the Spurs striker on 200 goals and just 60 shy of Alan Shearer.

Of course, Kane’s future is one talking point to keep close tabs on for the remaining months of the season. Whether he commits his future at the club or leaves for a new challenge in the summer, the England international’s decision will have major ramifications for years to come at the north London club.

Spurs keeping tabs on Evan Ferguson

Evan Ferguson has caught the eye in a Brighton side performing extremely well this season. He has already scored three goals in seven league games whilst impressing with his hold-up and link up play. The Republic of Ireland international has the raw attributes and potential to develop into a world-class striker.

The opportunity to join Tottenham and play in the Champions League will be an exciting proposition for Ferguson, and it would be a major step up in his career as well. However, the talented teenager needs to play regularly to continue his development and cannot afford to sit on the bench at such a young age.

Obviously, any striker coming in to possibly replace Kane at Spurs is going to be a monumental task. So, the Spurs have to be flawless when it comes to recruiting a striker to potentially replace their greatest goal scorer. If that player is Ferguson, the north Londoners have to come up with an enticing offer to persuade Brighton into selling one of their hottest talents.
