The Argentine manager is currently in the lookout for a new club.
Mauricio Pochettino is said to be in the lookup for a new club to restart his managerial career. The former Espanyol gaffer has been inactive for months after getting relieved off his duties at Spurs last year. Whether Spurs have entirely bought into the Philosophy of Jose Mourinho – the chosen one to succeed Pochettino – is a different context, let us take a look at some of the possible destinations for the Argentine.
Where will Pochettino continue his managerial career?
1. Barcelona
It would be as irrelevant as anything can be when you take up the job at Barca while being a supporter of Espanyol. Regardless, Pochettino has recently stated that he has not put out the idea of managing Barca in an anecdote he shared with the club president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
The Catalans are also pondering over the long-time replacements for Quique Setien, who is likely to leave the Camp Nou this summer. Setien will probably leave the club after the very poor result, especially humiliation by Bayern Munich 2-8 in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
Xavi and Robert De Zerbi are some of the names on the wishlist. Having seen many uncharacteristic things happen under Bartomeu, no wonder if Pochettino gets appointed as the new manager
2. Real Madrid
Next up is his Barca’s arch-rivals Real Madrid. Although it looks palpable that Zinedine Zidane has a long future – at least for another year – at Bernabeu, another Champions League failure again could put more pressure on him. Pochettino is not a strange name to the Los Blancos as he had been previously linked with the club over a managerial job. If Zidane decides to call it time with the Spanish capital, Pochettino would be good option to continue in the place of the French legend.
3. Inter Milan
Nerazzurri are reportedly can’t get hold of Antonio Conte for another season because of the turmoil with the hierarchy. Conte has dragged Inter to a second-place on his managerial return while installing a clear philosophy. The former Juventus gaffer now is focused on leading his side to the Europa League glory, and it would be nothing but impressive if he can pull it out.
Nonetheless, doubts are emerging over Conte’s availability beyond this summer and Inter are said to be one of the clubs interested in recruiting Pochettino. Project Inter would be an impressive one for the former Southampton gaffer to resume his managerial career. Nerazzurri currently have a handful of attacking talents, whom Pochettino can highly benefit from.
The former Spurs boss has been linked with a move to Juventus before Andrea Pirlo took up the job.
The 48-year-old is also clear on his new destination, where he can maximize the chances of winning the silverware – the factor which he was highly criticized for during his time at Spurs.
