Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez and has said to have made contact with his representatives. The Algerian has grabbed the attention following a brilliant season with Man City last term.

Madrid are ready to make way for contract rebel Gareth Bale as he will reportedly hold talks with Zinedine Zidane over his future. The Welsh winger’s importance has withered over seasons due to his inconsistency resulting from a string of injuries. Bale has also hit out at his club recently for not allowing him to leave last summer.

The 31-year-old said,

“I tried to leave last year and they blocked everything at the last second”. “It was a project I was excited for last year, but it didn’t materialise.

“What can I say? I want to play football, I’m still motivated to play football so I guess it’s on the club. I can’t really do much.”

Bale also added that he is eager to make a return to the Premier League, with Jose Mourinho ready to welcome the Welshman to Spurs.

Los Blancos are deprived of attacking options up in the front as Eden Hazard is yet to start his account. The Belgian ace, who flew from Chelsea last summer, had a rough start to life in La Liga, missing the half of the season due to injuries. Vinicius Junior has shown promise, but he is too young to be solely relied upon. Rodrygo and Lucas Vazquez are the available options for Madrid, with the latter one becoming a fringe figure in recent years.

Hence, Madrid are willing to add Mahrez to their ranks as he is currently in his peak years and holds plenty of experience under his bag.

The former Leicester City man moved to Etihad in the summer of 2018 and has since been pivotal for Citizens despite not being an undisputable starter under Guardiola.

Guardiola, who is also looking slightly out of depth with the attacking options, will likely hold on to the 29-year-old. Furthermore, Mahrez has still three years left in his current deal, meaning that it will take some effort for Madrid to prise him away from Man City. Earlier, PSG has also expressed their interest in signing Mahrez.

Guardiola also turns out to be a great admirer of the Algerian, having praised him on several occasions. The Spaniard has a flock of youngsters like Phil Foden and Ferran Torres at his disposal but holds Mahrez in high esteem.
