Harry Kane’s future at Tottenham has been the biggest talk of the town, with the England star attracting interest from Bayern Munich amidst reports he will not sign a new deal in north London. Out of contract in less than 12 months, the recently-turned 30-year-old, who has been linked with Manchester United all summer, is open to joining Bayern Munich.

Bayern have had two bids rejected for Kane and are now understood to be preparing a third offer worth a total of €95million. This is a very generous offer considering the Englishman can leave as a free agent next summer and would also have his pick of clubs, thereby, putting Spurs in huge risk of losing their star striker to a Premier League rival. As things stand, there is an optimism that a deal can be agreed between the two clubs.

Should Kane’s go through, Tottenham would reportedly consider a move for Nottingham Forest sensation Brennan Johnson.

Johnson, 22, helped Forest maintain their Premier League status in the 2022-23 campaign, bagging eight goals and three assists in 38 games. Following his promising debut top-flight season, a host of Premier League clubs including Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs are interested in his services.

Spurs eyeing move for Brennan Johnson as a potential replacement for Harry Kane

Harry Kane equalled his best-scoring return in the Premier League last season, bagging an eye-catching 30 goals in 38 games. Only Manchester City goal machine Erling Haaland scored more league goals than him in the Premier League last season.

Kane has been supremely prolific for Spurs, having bagged 280 goals across all competitions—making him the club’s record goal-scorer. Thus, losing him this summer will undoubtedly be a massive blow for the club and Ange Postecoglou. While replacing the English talisman’s goals is nearly impossible, Postecoglou may look to offset his departure by signing a couple of forwards.

One of those forwards could be Brennan Johnson. The Wales international has the qualities to fit into Ange Postecoglou’s system, bringing pace, dynamism and unpredictability to the Spurs attack. He may help to form part of a flexible forward line alongside the likes of James Maddison, Son Heung-min and Manor Solomon, rather than replacing the Bayern-bound Kane.

Capable of playing out wide or through the middle, Johnson would bring variety to Postecoglou’s attack. He has scored 29 goals and provided 12 assists in 105 senior appearances for Forest, highlighting that the Welshman has what it takes to make a difference in the final third.

At the age of 22, Johnson has the potential to grow into a top-class forward, and as a result, he could prove to be a terrific long-term option for the reshaped Spurs attack.
