Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka could end up joining the Ligue 1 giants following the departure of the legendary Buffon, who rejoined Juventus in early July.

Recent reports have surfaced suggesting Martin Dubravka has found himself on PSG’s shortlist, meaning the Slovakian goalkeeper could leave the English side after only 1 season to continue his career in France. The news, however, comes out as a surprise for the 30-year-old goalkeeper who was hoping to secure a new contract with his team this season, but should PSG’s interest prove to be legitimate, there could be a possibility he will leave his team in search for glory.

There have been no reports which would include a price tag on the Newcastle goalkeeper and while his official price tag is set at barely €7 million, we can be sure the Ligue 1 champions will have to pay several times more to convince Steve Bruce to let go of his goalkeeper, who has played a crucial role in Newcastle’s 2018/19 EPL campaign. In 38 appearances for the club, Martin Dubravka managed to keep the goal untouched 11 times, meaning he got ranked as 6th best goalkeeper in the league. That is a huge achievement for Martin Dubravka and his team, especially considering he is playing in Newcastle. His performance understandably did not go unnoticed and as it was reported convinced PSG to consider selling Kevin Trapp to Frankfurt and replace him with Martin Dubravka.

This, however, is not the first link for Martin Dubravka this transfer window. He was linked with Juventus, Manchester United, Tottenham, Aston Villa, Porto and Monaco earlier this summer, however, no deal was completed. Why exactly Martin Dubravka did not move is a mystery, however, we can speculate that it was because Newcastle were not prepared to let him go, which is arguably the right decision. As one of the best goalkeepers in the EPL and key player in Newcastle, the Magpies should do their best to fend off any suitors for Martin Dubravka as losing him would prove to be a huge blow for the team. As an exceptional player, who has grown into a leadership role and bring a lot of experience to the squad, Newcastle will most likely find themselves in a relegation battle without him.

While we can be sure Newcastle desire is to keep ahold of Martin Dubravka, his thoughts on the possible move to PSG remain a mystery as there were no official reports on the subject. Nonetheless, more information should become available by the end of the week, considering the transfer window is slowly closing and teams need to hurry up with their transfers.
