Manchester United have been strongly linked with Eintracht Frankfurt star Kolo Muani ahead of the summer transfer window.
Kolo Muani, 24, has enjoyed an excellent season with Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring 11 goals and registering 10 assists in 24 Bundesliga outings, as well as netting twice in seven Champions League appearances. He was also part of the France squad that reached the 2022 World Cup final against Argentina.
In January, Manchester United showed interest in the 24-year-old, who eventually ended up staying with Eintracht Frankfurt. Considering how he has boosted his profile massively, it would take a massive fee for them to land the Frenchman. The Red Devils are reportedly willing to pay €120m for Kolo Muani, although, they will have to ward off interest from Paris Saint-Germain. In fact, the Premier League giants have apparently made an offer of around €120m, but Frankfurt are yet to respond.
Ten Hag wants an elite striker to lead Man United’s attack next season
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is on the lookout for a striker. Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko are among the names linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Besides Marcus Rashford, who has been sensational with 27 goals across all competitions, the club’s forwards have struggled to deliver the goods consistently. Antony and Jadon Sancho have netted seven and five goals respectively, while Anthony Martial’s season has been hampered again by injuries.
Wout Weghorst has started every game since he joined Man United on loan from Burnley in the January transfer window but despite Erik ten Hag’s reliance on the striker, he has managed just two goals so far.
Hence, Ten Hag has made the signing of a quality centre-forward one of the top priorities alongside a new central midfielder.
Man United to spend big on Kolo Muani?
Frankfurt’s Kolo Muani appears to be on the shortlist of potential striker options following his 30-goal contributions in 34 games during the ongoing campaign. That is an excellent output and him still not being close to his peak makes Muani really special.
The France international ticks many boxes already. He can play across the forward line and can compete with the likes of Rashford, Antony, Sancho and Martial at United. However, his best work this season for Frankfurt has come through the middle.
At 24, Muani could make an instant impact at Man United and provide a regular supply of goals, as Ten Hag looks to avoid being over-reliable on Rashford’s goalscoring exploits. But Frankfurt are expected to demand a sizeable transfer fee for their star forward, so it is key that the Red Devils spend wisely and get this addition spot on.
