The Leicester and England defender Harry Maguire has been a target for a possible transfer this summer, following an incredible season with Leicester, which put his name on the radar of some of the best European clubs. The reports have linked Harry Maguire with Manchester City at first, however, Manchester United decided to join the race for the 26-year-old defender, confident they can land him this summer.

Harry Maguire who could become the most expensive English defender in the world has signed a new long-term contract last September with Leicester, who hoped they can keep hold of the former Hull and Sheffield United defender. But that just might prove to be harder said than done, considering all the interest from other teams. Maguire has been heavily linked with Manchester United for well over a year and reportedly landed on United shortlist shortly after his appearance for England at last summer’s World Cup in Russia. But Manchester United are not the only team would like to see Maguire in their team. Since the announcement of Vincent Kompany’s departure to Anderlecht, Manchester City joined the transfer race, hoping they can beat their neighbours in landing one of the best defenders in England and in the world. There is, however no consensus as to which club will Harry Maguire end up joining. That is because news reports don’t seem to agree with each other. While one media outlet writes about how Harry Maguire has agreed on £80million deal with Manchester City, the other claims Manchester United are ahead of City and will be the team that will end up signing Harry Maguire.

However, the most recent reports have surfaced, claiming that Harry Maguire told his friends, that the offer from the EPL champions is “too good to turn down”, which might put Manchester City in a favourable spot when it comes to signing him. His way of thinking is of course understandable. By joining Manchester City, Harry Maguire would get a chance to play in the Champions League next season, something Manchester United won’t be able to provide to him. Still, we need to acknowledge Manchester United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will not give up and continue pushing hard to sign Maguire. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stated they will do everything they can to beat Manchester City and that they feel confident they can outbid their neighbours.

With little to no information, we can use to clarify where Maguire might end up, a small hint could be seen on his Twitter, where he liked a post that suggested he might be joining United. Is that enough evidence is up to debate and while we wait to see how this story ends, we can at least be sure that we will be watching a bidding war between Manchester United and Manchester City, which is historically won by United (Fred and Alexis Sanchez).
