Chelsea and Liverpool are among several Premier League clubs targeting Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.
The Dutchman, 22, has enjoyed a fantastic season at Elland Road, helping Leeds United qualify for the Championship play-offs where they are up against Norwich City. With 19 goals in 43 appearances, he was the third-leading goalscorer in the division and was named the Championship Player of the Season.
Understandably, Crysencio Summerville faces interest from multiple top-flight clubs. Still, he is yet to make an official decision, as the Whites are also keen on retaining his services if they secure Premier League promotion at the first time of asking. Indeed, the winger has long been linked with Newcastle United and Aston Villa, who have scouted the player many times this campaign.
The former Netherlands under-21 international has reportedly emerged as a target for Chelsea and Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window. Chelsea and Liverpool are admirers of Summerville, contracted to Leeds United until the summer of 2026.
Crysencio Summerville subject of interest from Chelsea, Liverpool
Crysencio Summerville has fallen on the radar of Chelsea, with their manager Mauricio Pochettino a big admirer of the winger and viewing him as a potential replacement for Raheem Sterling. After two disappointing seasons at Stamford Bridge, the club are looking to offload Sterling this summer.
Even if the England international is moved on, Chelsea would have the likes of Mykhaylo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson who can play out wide. There is also youngster Omari Hutchinson, who has just completed a stellar season in the Championship and helped Ipswich Town achieve promotion.
Incoming Liverpool manager Arne Slot likes Summerville, so he has been added to a potential list of targets for him when he is expected to replace Jurgen Klopp next season. The Merseyside club are seeking a younger, more prolific and more creative winger due to uncertainties surrounding Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz’s futures. Summerville, in that regard, fits that profile perfectly.
Summerville has thrived in the Championship with 19 goals and nine assists, and he would potentially fit in well in Arne Slot’s fluid and attacking system at Anfield. However, the Dutchman is understood to be happy at Elland Road and is not looking to leave the club, regardless of whether they get promoted.
Given his eye-catching performances and importance to Leeds, they value Summerville highly, having slapped a £30m to £40m asking price on his head in a bid to scare off potential suitors. That is a price both Chelsea and Liverpool would find it practical to pay because of the player’s age, status and potential in the game.
