The Villans have started the summer transfer window well, signing Enzo Barrenechea and Samuel Iling-Junior from Juventus in a swap for Douglas Luiz, whilst also receiving some fee as part of the deal. the likes of Ross Barkley, Ian Maatsen and Lewis Dobbin have also arrived at Villa Park, as Unai Emery prepares for the club’s return to the Champions League.

Now, Aston Villa are planning to do business with Juventus again. They have reportedly registered their interest in signing Federico Chiesa. The Italy international, 26, is into the final year of his contract and Juventus have no intention of handing him a new deal. He is not part of new manager Thiago Motta’s plans, with the Old Lady ready to listen to offers for their star forward for just €20m-25m. AS Roma also are keen on the player.

Federico Chiesa would be a statement signing from Aston Villa

Federico Chiesa was once rated as one of the hottest properties in Europe, with Juventus splashing £54m to sign him from Fiorentina back in October 2020. However, his star has waned since suffering a serious ACL injury in January 2022 which sidelined him for almost an entire year.

The 26-year-old has managed to put behind his injury problems and enjoyed an impressive individual season with Juventus, where he scored ten goals and provided three assists in 37 appearances and operated in multiple attacking roles under Max Allegri. Chiesa was a part of the Italy squad at the 2024 Euros that got dumped out by Switzerland in the Round of 16.

The ex-Fiorentina star has the mix of technical skills and physical attributes to thrive in the Premier League and become a crucial player for Aston Villa. Chiesa will add dynamism, creativity, flair and goals from the wide areas. While he can operate in many attacking positions, the Italian likes to play off the left and cut in on his stronger right foot to either test the goalkeeper from long range or make an incisive pass in the final third.

Unai Emery has a spot for a left-winger in his squad, with Leon Bailey and Moussa Diaby effective from the right flank. Chiesa would be a fantastic fit at Villa Park, improving Emery’s side going forward. For €20m-25m, he could turn out to be an excellent piece of business from Villa—one that makes a statement in the Premier League.
