Eintracht Frankfurt completed the signing of Luka Jovic, the Serbian youngster with a 4-year deal that ties him with the German club until 2023, for a fee of €7 million. But with other clubs knocking on Eintracht Frankfurt door, Luka Jovic might leave the club in a couple of months.
The Serbian youngster, Luka Jovic decided to sign a deal with Eintracht Frankfurt, a team he joined on the loan in the summer of 2017, when he arrived from Benfica. After a successful campaign in Germany, Eintracht Frankfurt decided to use the clause from the contract, which allowed them to sign the player when the loan ends for a small fee of €7 million. This, while seeming like a fair price in 2017, can now be described as outrageously low considering Luka Jovic skillset and the season he had behind him. In 2018/19 season alone, he scored 17 goals and added 6 assists in 27 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. Additionally, he scored 8 goals and added 1 assist in 12 fixtures in Europa League.
Combining his numbers, Luka Jovic scored 25 times and added 7 assists in only 39 games played for his club. Not only is Luka Jovic as of now the 2nd highest scorer in the 2018/19 Europa League, but he also played a crucial part in Eintracht Frankfurt Europa League campaign, who are now getting ready to face off against Chelsea in the semi-finals on May 2nd.
The 21-year-old Serbian international enjoyed a stunning season in both Bundesliga, as well as in the Europa League, which can understandably be seen in his market value, which skyrocketed to €57 million. That will also serve as the estimated price Eintracht Frankfurt will look to get for Jovic if he decides to leave for another club.
Even before this season, Luka Jovic was highly sought after when he joined Benfica from Red Star Belgrade in 2016, however, it was this season that put him on the radar of some of the best clubs in the world. After an incredible season behind him, there have been rumours about Luka Jovic being on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in Europe. From Real Madrid and Barcelona to Bayern Munich and Chelsea, but those clubs know Luka Jovic won’t be cheap. After snatching Luka Jovic from Benfica, Eintracht Frankfurt now holds a player whose market value is estimated to be at around €57 million, which is also expected to be the sum the Germans will look to get for him.
While he did sign a new contract with Eintracht Frankfurt, Jovic is expected to move this summer, which should not come off as a surprise, as a move to Barcelona, Real Madrid or any other big name club could kickstart his career in the best possible way. Eintracht Frankfurt director Fredi Bobic had the following to say about the young prodigy:
“Luka’s development is very pleasing for us and it was never in question as to whether we wanted to tie him to the club,”
“He is a player with extraordinary abilities. It is important to us that we have bound him to our club.”
As it seems now, Eintracht Frankfurt are powerless in stopping Luka Jovic from moving to another club this summer, however with no official news, there are only rumours which tie him to some of the best clubs in the world. Should he move and continue his career elsewhere, Eintracht Frankfurt can at least be happy they will be making a huge profit of around €50 million.
