Manchester United need to pay £18m for the signing of Gareth Bale

Real Madrid lower the value of Gareth Bale to £18m.

Manchester United, who are interested in signing Gareth Bale, could sign him for around £18m. Real Madrid have lowered the fee of their outcast, who has sought a transfer request this summer.

United’s interest in Bale comes after the reportedly failed pursuit of their long-time target Jadon Sancho. Borussia Dortmund are steadfast with Sancho’s £100m price tag and have already rejected an offer from the Red Devils. With the chances looking dim for Sancho, United could move for a cheaper option like Gareth Bale.

Bale is not a strange name to the Old Trafford outfit as they have attempted to sign him on many occasions before. The Welshman, perhaps, was a target of the Red Devils before he decided to move to Santiago Bernabeu in 2013. Jose Mourinho also tried to sign Bale during his time at Man Utd, like he is doing now with Spurs, but a deal never materialized.

However, the Red Devils can get the services of the 31-year-old this time around as he is desperate to leave the Spanish capital. It had been said earlier that Bale would play out his contract at Bernabeu.

The Welsh international has recently stated his intentions to return to the Premier League while taking a dig at his club for not letting him leave last summer. Bale was close to joining Chinese Super League last year before Zinedine Zidane scuppered the deal, much to the dismay of the Welshman.

However, Zidane Zidane is looking to clear out fringe players this summer as James Rodriguez recently left the club to join Everton. Bale could be the next player to leave as Madrid plot to bring in Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez

Elsewhere, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to add reinforcements, especially the alternatives for Jadon Sancho. Bale would be a decent option considering his low-cost fee. Although he is not superior to Sancho, the Welshman’s experience would be vital for Man Utd.

Former Liverpool star Peter Crouch has also backed the Red Devils to sign Bale.

I can see Gareth Bale at Manchester United. That would feel like the kind of club where he would fit in and instantly add something to their team and maybe put them back in the mix to win trophies.’

‘There are not many clubs in the world who could afford his wages, but Manchester United might be one of them and he would have an instant impact if he went there.

‘I’m not sure where they are in their efforts to sign Jadon Sancho but Bale would be an option for them and if he is available on a loan deal, he would be a great signing for any club.’

United are not done with the signing of Donny van de Beek alone as Solskjaer looks to strengthen his side with three more signings this summer.
