Is £80million Enough for Jadon Sancho to join Manchester United?

Manchester United are confident they can convince Borussia Dortmund to let go of their young star Jadon Sancho with an £80million (€92.1 million) offer.

Out of all the transfer targets of Manchester United, the England international Jadon Sancho has been identified as their top targets in the next transfer window. Mirror Online reported that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already expressed his desire to bring Sancho to his team to the United chief Ed Woodward. Looking at how Sancho played this season, the18-year-old has been just phenomenal. In 35 appearances for Dortmund, he has been involved in 26 goals, scoring 9 times and adding 17 assists. As of now, he has the most assists in Bundesliga (15). With such performances, it should not come off as surprise teams like United are looking to sign him, however, it should also be understood Dortmund would not let him go easily. Borussia Dortmund public stance is that the teenager is not for sale at any price, which is a bunch of baloney. This is what we constantly hear from teams that possess a young star, just to increase his value and I do believe this is the case here. While Jadon Sancho is a spectacular player who is considered one of the most exciting prospects in Europe, there is a price for him. Everything has a price, and he is not an exception.

Manchester United seem to agree with my theory and they believe the price tag of £80million (€92.1 million) should be enough to persuade Dortmund in selling the young prospect.

Rarely do we see exciting young players pop up, and when they do, they tend to grab the attention of not only one club, but a handful of them. The reports now state that Sancho could potentially end up at Old Trafford, but as expected there are other clubs interested in bringing him into their squads. One of those teams is Paris Saint Germain, who are monitoring the situation between Manchester United and Jadon Sancho. Nonetheless, all things point to Sancho either leaving for United or remain in his current club. Manchester United can also be happy that Manchester City did not insert the “United clause” in the transfer of Sancho to Dortmund back in August 2017, like they did when they sold Diaz to Real Madrid. If Sancho ends up in Manchester United for the fee of £80million (€92.1 million), it would make him the most expensive transfer of an English player up to date.

On one hand, we have got Manchester United who are reportedly doing all they can to strengthen their right wing with a young prospect, while on the other hand Dortmund reportedly don’t wish to sell him. While I have mentioned that just might be a tactic to raise the price on Sancho, there is also a question of what Jadon Sancho wants. Since he arrived at Dortmund from Manchester City, he has been thriving and improving drastically, so the question pops up: does he even want to leave a team and a league where he shines to try out in the English Premier League? It’s said that Sancho is happy in Germany and doesn’t want to leave, but in the end, it will have to be him who decides if he is ready to head back to England after a great season in Bundesliga.
